About UNSW DOI Service Help

The UNSW DOI Service enables UNSW affiliated staff and students (with a ZID) to request a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for grey literature and non-traditional research outputs deposited in UNSWorks Institutional Repository.

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a persistent and unique identifier for research outputs. The purpose of DOIs is to identify, cite and link research.

A DOI can be requested for the following publication types: reports, working papers, conference posters, conference papers, conference presentations, media items, music compositions, creative works, and submissions to government.

DOIs are automatically minted for theses and datasets in the new UNSWorks platform. The UNSW DOI service will be decommissioned in Q2 2024 and eligible grey literature and non-traditional research will automatically be assigned DOIs in the new platform.

Contact your Outreach Librarian for any DOI queries.

The UNSW DOI Service will be discontinued from Monday, 11 March, 2024 to be replaced by an automated DOI-creation process as part of migration to the new UNSWorks platform. This means:

  • DOI allocation is temporarily unavailable from Monday 11 March to Friday 22 April 2024 during the migration period.
  • After Friday 22 April all eligible grey literature and non-traditional research outputs will be allocated DOIs upon successful publication to UNSWorks.
